THE BIBLE AND ME: THE NEXT CHAPTER.
PART FIVE: THE STORY OF A QUEST (The Poetry Books)
The “poetry” books in the Bible: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon contain reflections on the nature of life and love, wisdom and truth, good and evil, humanity and God. They contain material used in public and private worship (Psalms), sound advice for living (Proverbs) a reflection on human love (Song of Solomon), musings on the purpose of life (Ecclesiastes) and one of the most profound outpourings ever written on the problem of undeserved suffering (Job).
Together they contain the story of a Quest: the basic quest of humanity to know God. We look at this Quest during the Christian season of Epiphany, which is all about God making himself known to the world.Sunday 3rd January “Why am I here?” (The book of Ecclesiastes)
