Living in a land of shadows
Three thousand years ago a writer used this phrase to describe the way he felt about his life, his country, his world. The shadows were about fear, regret and confusion as people looked at an unstable world with nothing good on the horizon.
- Do we feel as though we are living in a land of shadows?
- Afraid because there is so much bad stuff going on in the world and we do not know who to trust?
- Nostalgic, wishing we could turn back the clock?
- Confused, leading a hectic life but not getting anywhere?
- Haunted by the shadows of our past?
- Shadows in ourselves that we do not understand?
The Bible promised that light would shine on those who live in shadow. At St. John's Church this Christmas we shall be asking if this is right.
