January marks the beginning of the season we call “Epiphany,” a word which is used to describe the ways in which God appears to human men and women. It begins on January 6th, with the story of the Wise Men, who followed the sign of the star to find the baby who would be the Saviour of the world. It culminates, on 18th February, Transfiguration Sunday, when we hear the story of how Jesus’ closest friends had a moment of vision on the mountain-top, when they saw Jesus as the person he really was – the Son of God.
